Allegra Hangen is a multidisciplinary artist and cultural organizer based in Mexico City and Omaha. Working across video, installation, sound, and photography, she explores how systems-architectural, archival, and visual-shape perception and power. Her work blends glitch, research, and material process to imagine alternate infrastructures and speculative futures.
Hangen holds an MFA in Visual Arts from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) and a BFA in Photography and Art History from Lesley University College of Art and Design. She has exhibited internationally, including at the Giardini della Biennale in Venice, the Salina Biennial (Kansas), Centro Fotográfico Manuel Álvarez Bravo (Oaxaca), Salón Silicón (CDMX), Pandeo (CDMX), and with the Boston Art Dealers Association.
Hangen is co-founder of Fortuna, an international residency and curatorial platform fostering artistic exchange between Omaha and Mexico City.
