FAMILIAR ICONS blends family footage from the Kennedy family and Hangen’s family to create a collage of “American” ways of seeing and documenting our private lives. She includes a soundtrack of found audio that she considers as part of the stereotypical public life in the US:  lawn mowers, kids playing in a pool, fireworks, helicopters, gunshots. The result is a snapshot of cultural patterns, repeated incessantly.
