Soft Modernism

2024

Textile and sculptural assemblage.
This large-scale textile and sculptural piece investigates the failed architectural utopias of Modernism in Mexico City, using the Conjunto Urbano Tlatelolco housing complex as a case study.

The work consists of a three-dimensional assemblage that intertwines analog video stills printed on fabric with industrial acrylic and aluminum panels. Through exposed stitching and the layering of translucent surfaces, the structure fragments and deconstructs the modular, brutalist facades.

This process translates the rigidity of concrete and the urban grid into a suspended, malleable form that questions the passage of time and the memory of the inhabited landscape.
